Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No. You can contact us directly to make an appointment, and we can apply to ACC to get your injury covered if required. We welcome referrals from doctors or specialists also.

Do you treat ACC patients?

Yes, Hutt Physiotherapy Centre is an ACC Accredited Service Provider. Your physio can fill out the necessary forms for a claim if not already registered under ACC.

Will I have to pay for my physiotherapy treatment?

Yes, there will be a charge for your treatment. If the injury is covered by ACC due to an accident you will have to pay a co-payment, as ACC doesn’t pay the full price of treatments. If ACC declines your claim, then you will have to pay the full cost of the treatment. There may be additional charges for equipment such as acupuncture needles, strapping or other materials.

Can you directly bill my insurance company for my appointments?

Yes, we have a direct billing arrangement with Southern Cross and some other private workplace insurers. 

Can the physiotherapist prescribe medication?

No, physiotherapists are unable to prescribe medication. Please contact your doctor or pharmacist to discuss issues regarding medication.

Can the physiotherapist provide a work certificate?

No, you will require to make an appointment with your doctor if you need to be signed off work, but the physiotherapist can provide a letter of recommendation to your GP.

What if I can’t make my appointment?

Please call and let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend your appointment. There may be a late cancellation fee of $35 if you cancel on the day.

Is your clinic wheelchair accessible?

Yes, our clinic is on the ground floor and there is a disability park outside the main entrance.
